WHAT is this project?

Simply a cooperative effort among progressive citizens' groups to provide immediate assistance to the people of Haiti, in response to the devastating earthquake there. Any group is welcome to participate by simply directing their members to this page, or else circulating this donation link: http://www.progressivesforhaiti.org . No one involved is keeping any of the money raised, we're only passing you through to donate directly to organizations we've identified and vetted as doing real, immediate work on the ground in Haiti.

WHO is behind it?

Initial sponsors of the effort include USAction, TrueMajority.org, Democracy for America, CREDO Action, Center for American Progress Action Fund, MoveOn.org, National Security Network, Enough Campaign, Living Liberally, Campus Progress, Demos, Agit-Pop Communications, Progressive Change Campaign Commitee, ACORN.

WHY are you doing it?

It's what we do. Progressives believe that working together to create practical solutions to common problems is the best way to live. The people of Haiti have a huge problem, funding experienced doctors who are already there is a practical solution, and we're working together to do it as effectively as possible. We also hope that putting our organizational reputation behind this fundraising effort will allay any fears about the legitimacy of the effort.

HOW can I help?

Most obviously, click the big red button and give to Doctors Without Borders. They have a fantastic track record in situations like these, medical help is the most urgent need in Haiti right now, and they already have the largest working clinic in Port au Prince.
